Open Pharma quarterly update: January–March 2023

Caitlin Edgell

We’ve had a great start to the year here at Open Pharma, with successful congress presentations and our engaging talk shows.

We presented two posters on ORCID use by pharma employees and on plain language summary tagging in PubMed at the 2023 European Meeting of International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) in London in January. We also hosted a roundtable session titled Much ado about access at the meeting. January also saw publisher Taylor & Francis become the latest Open Pharma Supporter.

In February, we hosted our two talk show sessions, which brought together representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, academia, funders, patient groups and publishers to discuss what the world wants from pharma research communications and whether the current system of publication of pharma research is fit for purpose.

Finally, March saw the start of our 2023 topic meeting series, with a meeting on the Sustainable Medicines Partnership with Nazneen Rahman.

We’re looking forward to the 19th International Meeting of ISMPP next quarter as well as the launch of an exciting new tool for open access metrics. Keep an eye out for further updates!
