Open Pharma quarterly update: January–March 2024

Caitlin Edgell

We’ve had a great start to the year here at Open Pharma, kicking off congress season with two successful roundtable sessions on open access and data sharing at the 2024 European Meeting of the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) in January. Alongside this event, we released our 2023 summit presentations on our YouTube channel.

January also saw our hybrid meeting in London, where we reflected on our achievements over the past year and considered our plans for the year ahead.

In February, we hosted the inaugural Open Pharma artificial intelligence (AI) discussion forum, where we got to grips with how AI could be used across the medical publishing ecosystem.

In March, Digital Science, Figshare and Springer Nature released their The State of Open Data: from theory to practice report, which included a case study on Open Pharma and how we support responsible data sharing for pharma research publications.

After our success at the European meeting, we can’t wait to share our roundtable sessions on open access and data sharing at the 20th Annual Meeting of ISMPP in April. We’re also presenting a poster on our 2023 data sharing survey, and we’re excited to collaborate with Oxford PharmaGenesis on a plenary session on optimizing electronic product information to meet the needs of patients and caregivers.

We look forward to seeing some of you next quarter in Washington, DC, for the ISMPP Annual Meeting or in New York City for our second hybrid meeting of the year!
